Sign-ups will go live in July

Walk of Light is a time to come together to remember those that we have lost and share our stories in a supportive environment. We walk together in darkness arriving at The Angel of the North just before sunrise, coming together as the new day begins.

Whilst at the angel there will be an opportunity to share together and remember those who we have loved and lost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can dogs attend?

Yes! Well behaved dogs are welcome to join you. Owners must take full responsibility for their dogs and dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Will there be refreshments?

We will once again be providing hot drinks at the top of the angel.

Will there be toilets?

We are still exploring possibilities and will follow up with attendees and those who cannot attend due to these facilities not being available if there are any changes.

I can’t get there until after 5am, can I still attend?

The walk will leave Sainsburys from 5am, a member of our team will remain in the car park for approximately 15 minutes after that. It takes around 5 minutes to get everyone out of the car park and on to the route. We would advise if you will be later than 5:10am to meet the group at the Angel of the North.

I can’t walk long distances; can I still attend?

Yes! The walk can be taken at your own pace, or if you are unable to walk long distances you are welcome to join us at the Angel where other walkers will arrive for around 5:45am.

Where do I park?

We start in Sainsbury’s Car Park and cars can be left there. You will make your way back down from the Angel to collect your car at Sainsbury’s once the event has finished.
