What do you do at IUCSF?

My official job title is training officer meaning I lead on all of our external training for adults from emotional and mental health awareness with community groups to bespoke suicide prevention and postvention training to professional organisations. Although it’s often a difficult subject to discuss we pride ourselves on creating a safe space to explore the subject with respect, dignity, and support at the heart of all that we do. . I also work as part of our wellbeing team and often support other areas of charity life such as events or evaluation.

Describe why you’re at IUCSF?

I started volunteering for If U Care Share whilst at Uni and although I’ve left twice I’ve always ended up back. I work with some amazing people who inspire on the daily. You can’t find more passionate, caring, empathic and experienced people, and I can see the difference we make, to individuals, and wider society, why wouldn’t I want to work here?

If you could travel to anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I’d love to go back to Texas and buy some authentic cowboy boots! Having been three times already it’s my one regret.

What are some things that make you happy?

I love spending time in the kitchen whether it's cooking or baking. When not in the kitchen you’ll find me collecting entomology/ taxidermy, watching Drag Performances and filling our house with beautiful drag artists from around the world or watching Netflix cuddling the dogs.

What is your favourite biscuit, and why?

Milk chocolate hobnob or the equally phenomenal chocolate oaties for those of us on a budget. I am also very partial to an orange club – the upper echelon of blood donation biscuits.

Anything else you would like to share with the world?

I’m always inspired by Master Oogway’s quote from Kung Fu Panda “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift that’s why it’s called present”
