If U Care Share Foundation, based in Great Lumley, delivers a range of services, which are fundamental to it’s 3 main objectives – the prevention, intervention & support of those affected by suicide.
This is an opportunity to become involved in an exciting time of expansion to support the delivery of our work, specifically around support after suicide. This is an "emotionally challenging role" working with persons that have recently been affected by a death by suicide, providing practical and emotional guidance.
Do you feel you could offer both practical and emotional support to individuals and families who have been bereaved by suicide? Due to the increased demand for our services, we are looking for an additional Support Worker to work across the North East and possibly further. We have recently been allocated funding for this role with the hope this will be renewed on an annual basis. The post is offered on a fixed term contract for an initial 12 months.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Support Worker who will ideally have:
Experience and knowledge of working with individuals affected by suicide
An understanding of the needs and issues affecting individuals and their mental wellbeing.
Completed the following training: ASIST, Youth Mental Health First Aid, Safeguarding training and Self Harm Training.
A full driving licence, as home visits are requisition of the role. Petrol allowance paid.
Ability to work on own initiative, following appropriate safeguarding procedures.
Good communication skills and the ability to articulate and attend meetings with Local Authorities, representing the charity and the people it supports
Understanding of accurate record keeping – I.T. Skills preferred.
